FAQs
international work & study

For FAQs relating to World Physical Therapy 2007 please visit the Congress section of this website.

1. Does WCPT hold information on working, volunteering and obtaining clinical placements in countries around the world?

WCPT works to improve the quality of global health care by representing physical therapists internationally, enabling information exchange and co-operation between physical therapists across the world. WCPT does not keep information on working opportunities or conditions in specific countries. To obtain up to date information it is best to contact the physical therapy association in the country of interest. The national organisation may be able to assist you further and direct your enquiry appropriately.  You can find contact details for all our Member Organisations via the members section of this website.

You may also like to visit our page regarding international work and study.

2. Does WCPT have a job vacancy listing?

WCPT does not retain or advertise information about jobs. You should check the journals and publications for the countries you are interested in. You may find job listings at www.physiobase.com

3. Does WCPT have a list of PT/Education programs that are affiliated with or recognised by WCPT?

WCPT's members are 92 national physical therapy associations. WCPT does not have an accreditation or recognition programme for physical therapy education programs. While we are trying to develop a complete list of education programs, it is not yet complete. It is best to contact the national physical therapy association that is a member of WCPT for the most up to date information. You can find contact details for all our Member Organisations via the members section of this website. Education programmes are not members of WCPT.

4. How do I become a member of WCPT?

WCPT is a confederation of 92 national physical therapy associations. Individuals are linked to WCPT through their national associations. We do not have an individual membership category.  You can find contact details for all our Member Organisations via the members section of this website.

WCPT publishes a newsletter, WCPT News, which provides news and information from Member Organisations, Regions and Subgroups. It also includes reports on WCPT initiatives and Executive Committee and General Meeting decisions, and opinion articles on international issues relevant to the profession.  WCPT News is published every three months, and is available for download via the WCPT News page.  Member Organisations, Regions and Subgroups are sent a copy via email for their governing boards - although Members requiring hard copies will still be able to obtain them on request.

If you would like to receive an email notification when new issues of WCPT News are published please send your full name and postal/email addresses to info@wcpt.org.  Individuals who wish to take out a subscription to WCPT News will be sent a printed copy (black & white on A4 paper) by post.

If you wish to subscribe please download the publication order form (pdf) and return it to us with your payment. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader

5. I am a physiotherapist and live in Brazil.  I understand Brazil has been suspended from membership of WCPT.  How can I become a member of WCPT?

A: WCPT is a confederation of 92 national physical therapy associations.  Individuals are linked to WCPT through their national associations. We do not have an individual membership category.

The Associacao Brasileira de Fisioterapia was a member of WCPT for many years however it was suspended from membership in 2005 and we understand the ABF is no longer functioning.

An application for membership has recently been received from a new association, the Associacao de Fisioterapeutas do Brasil (AFB) and we anticipate that this association will be admitted to full membership at our General Meeting in June 2007.  We encourage you to join the AFB and as a member of AFB you will be linked to WCPT.  One of the benefits is that you will be eligible to receive the member registration rates at the WCPT Congress in Vancouver in June 2007.

To obtain information about the AFB please contact: Augusto Cesinando De Carvalho at email: Cesinand@prudente.unesp.br

6. When is the next WCPT Congress?

We are pleased to add individuals to our database to receive information about the WCPT Congress held every 4 years. The next congress is in Vancouver, Canada from 2-6 June 2007. To be added to the database, please send your full name and postal/email addresses to congress@wcpt.org
