Call for volunteers

The world of physical therapy will meet in Amsterdam from 20-23 June 2011.  As hosts of World Physical Therapy 2011, the Royal Dutch Society for Physical Therapy (KNGF) are now recruiting volunteers to assist at this event.

The role of volunteers

At WCPT Congresses volunteers are an essential part of the team helping to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that all delegates have an enjoyable and memorable conference.

Volunteers are usually members of the host organisation and are recurited from the local area. As a volunteer, a very important part of your role would be answering delegate questions about the host city, including assisting with directions and providing information on local amenities and things to see and do during their visits.

In general, volunteers coming from outside the Netherlands will only be used if they are registered as a delegate and attending congress for at least one day.

You would be required to assist with a broad range of tasks during the congress, such as monitoring session rooms, assisting in the poster display area or exhibition hall, setting up/tearing down various event spaces, and assisting at education sessions taking place pre- and post-congress.

You would receive an extensive handbook and on-site orientation prior to the event, as well as a volunteer t-shirt making you easily identifiable as a congress volunteer.

Requirements

• You must be available for at least two half-day shifts (10-12 hours total) over the course of the congress.  Please do not offer your services as a volunteer if you do not believe you will be able to meet this requirement
• Volunteers do not need to register as a delegate for the days they are volunteering.  However, if you wish to attend congress on any day other than the day you are scheduled to volunteer, you must register as a congress delegate at the regular rate
