September 2008

From the Secretary General and President

WCPT was founded on 8 September 1951 and since 1996 the date has also been used to celebrate World Physical Therapy Day.  This year's event was bigger than ever - thank you to everyone who participated.

Work is continuing on WCPT's new website to be unveiled in 2009; preparations are underway for our next congress, World Physical Therapy 2011; and work is progressing on a number of projects emanating from the last general meeting.  The executive committee will meet in November to consider many of these, including standards for review of education programmes and international activity on ICF.

E-update is a tool to share short pieces of news and information with you on a monthly basis.  The length and content will vary, but we hope you will help us reach physical therapists around the world by sharing it with your members. If you would like to use all or part of this E-letter for your own newsletters/websites then please feel free.

Kind regards,
Brenda J Myers and Marilyn Moffat

Reminder to Member Organisations

Please note that the deadline for comments on the new position statement 'Guidelines for Physical Therapy Record Keeping and Retrieval of Records for Patients' is fast approaching.  We should therefore be grateful if you would please ensure that the person responsible for this area in your organisation has been forwarded the document (if you no longer have the original email sent with the draft documentation, please do not hesitate to contact mlockner@wcpt.org and we will resend it).

We  have extended the deadline to 15 October 2008 allowing for any extra time needed.  Thank you for your co-operation.
