From the President and Secretary General
The Executive Committee met in London in November to continue work on policy documents for the General Meeting in 2011. The draft position statement, The Consequences of Armed Violence, Landmines and other Weapons of War, which was previously circulated to member organisations, was finalised and is now available on the website. Work is continuing on the papers on regulation and accreditation/recognition of education programmes based on feedback received from member organisations. Once revisions are complete both papers will be circulated to member organisations again. Thank you to all who provided comments on these documents, your input has been helpful in moving them forward. The Executive Committee began work on papers addressing faculty qualifications and clinical education. Once completed, both of these will complement the existing curriculum guidelines on professional physical therapist entry level education and will be circulated to all WCPT member organisations for input.
If you would like to use all or part of this E-letter for your own newsletters/websites then please feel free. We need your assistance to reach the profession around the world, so please send this e-update to your members.
Kind regards,

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December, WCPT would like to bring your attention to the following activities and initiatives:
- the latest edition of the Enable newsletter has just been published. It is prepared by the United Nations Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) with input from UN offices, agencies, funds and programmes. The latest edition may be read on-line at http://www.un.org/disabilities/.
- to promote the effective implementation of CRPD, Making it Work was set up as a multi-stakeholder initiative. For more information see www.makingitwork-crpd.org.
- an international seminar on access to services for persons with disabilities in challenging environments will take place in Amman, Jordan on 9-11 December 2009. For further information please contact Handicap International at Seminaire.Amman@handicap-international.org.

Congratulations to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association for its journal, Physiotherapy Canada, being accepted into the PubMed Central (PMC) index. PMC is managed by the prestigious National Institutes of Health as a free digital archive of the best available biomedical and life sciences journals.
To be accepted into PMC, Physiotherapy Canada had to meet strict scientific quality standards and demonstrate its relevance as an essential evidence-based journal in physical therapy.
WCPT has been made aware that there is an ongoing internet physical therapy job scam. The scam targets international physical therapists, in particular those from the USA and Canada, offering high-level employment opportunities in Nigeria.
