Call for abstracts

WCPT is pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for poster and platform presentations is now open. The closing date for submissions is 15 September 2010.

The International Scientific Committee (ISC) is inviting abstracts in the following categories:

  • research reports: presentations of original scientific data collected by authors
  • special interest reports: presentations of new or unique services, programmes or theories and descriptions of innovative ways in which established methods have been adapted

Research and special interest reports may be made in one of the following presentation formats:

  • platform presentations
  • poster presentations
  • poster discussion sessions

Platform and poster presentations are considered by the ISC to be of equal standing and judged by the same standards. There is more space in the programme for posters than platform presentations.

The overall theme for congress is Moving Physical Therapy Forward. The call for abstracts is open to any topics that fit at least one of the programme tracks and the topics identified.

Each submission must be made electronically via the WCPT website. The submitting author must be the presenting author. A non-refundable abstract submission fee of €20 per abstract is payable.

For further information and to submit an abstract please go to http://www.wcpt.org/congress/abstracts.

Abstract mentoring

WCPT has a mentoring programme in place from 1 January to 30 June 2010 for those with limited or no experience of submitting an abstract for a scientific congress. The goal of WCPT’s mentorship programme is to help the author present their material clearly and concisely prior to submitting the abstract to the formal abstract review process.

As abstracts must be submitted in English the programme may be most helpful for those whose first language is not English or who are not used to the structure of the abstract format. Participants should prepare their abstract according to the submission guidelines and forward it to the programme coordinator at abstractmentoring@wcpt.org.

For further information on this programme please go to http://www.wcpt.org/congress/mentoring.

Preliminary programme

A preliminary programme is now available to view on the WCPT website.  This is an initial overview showing the dates for the main scientific programme, exhibition, satellite programme and clinical visits, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies and evening social events.

Go to http://www.wcpt.org/congress/prelim-programme and mark your calendars now!

Satellite programme: call for proposals

With less than 2 months to go, the deadline for proposals for the satellite programme is fast approaching.

The satellite programme is a new and innovative part of the WCPT congress experience.  It will be made up of education sessions and clinical visits and will be offered as an optional addition to the main scientific programme. It will focus on the practical application of new knowledge and skills, offering delegates the chance to listen to the latest research and advances while gaining hands-on experience.

The satellite programme will be designed to complement the main scientific programme and will only be open to delegates who register to attend at least one day of the main congress. It will carry a separate fee and attendance numbers will be restricted.

Each session is to be organised by a recognised expert in the field. The ISC are keen to include a wide range of sessions with international appeal that involve presenters from all of WCPT’s regions.

For further information and to download a full copy of the call for satellite programme education sessions and application form, please go to www.wcpt.org/sat_prog.
