Biography
Christiane Perme is a 1981 graduate from the Catholic University in Brazil where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. She is currently a Senior Physical Therapist at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX-USA where she has practiced for the past 23 years with a variety of complex acute care patients. Mrs. Perme has extensive experience in treating adult patients in Intensive Care Unit where she has practiced exclusively in the past 16 years. Her special interest is in early mobility of patients in ICU and patients requiring mechanical ventilation. In 2005 she became a Board Certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Clinical Specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association. She have published 3 articles: "Early Mobilization of LVAD Recipients Who Require Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation"(Texas Heart Institute Journal-2006), "Managing the patient on Mechanical Ventilation in ICU: Early Mobility and Walking Program" (Acute Care Perspectives-2008), and "Early Mobility and Walking Program for Patients in the Intensive Care Unit: Creating a Standard of Care" (American Journal of Critical Care- 2009) . She has authored eight book chapters. Mrs. Perme is staff for Education Resources, Inc and Motivations, Inc. presenting seminars about rehabilitation in the ICU throughout the United States. She is an experienced speaker and have also presented in several conferences nationally and internationally. Mrs. Perme is also involved in research and has recently received a grant to study the ' The Safety and efficacy of mobilizing patients in ICU who have femoral catheters'.
