Biography

Dr Robert Jones  MPhil. BA. FCSP, Grad Dip Phys, MHSM, MMACP is Head of the Therapy Services Directorate, East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust. Robert has management responsibility for all therapy services in one of the largest Trusts in the UK.  He leads a large team of therapy and support staff in acute services, primary care, external contracts and the independent sector. A Physiotherapist by background, he is a former Chair and Vice President of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registrant member of the Health Professions Council.  He was seconded to the Commission for Health Improvement for a year as the AHP consultant/advisor; he has represented AHPs on an NHS information authority project board. Robert has completed a five year term as a Governor of Moorefield’s Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and is a member of the Strategic Health Authority Map of Medicine project board. Robert has led a wide range of successful re-design projects and service innovations including national exemplars. He has published widely on management, clinical topics, IM&T in Allied Health Professions and is Honorary Fellow of the University of Brighton and Plymouth University. His PhD is in Management and MPhil is in Social policy. He lectures both nationally and internationally, leads Master classes and workshops and gives presentations on management and leadership topics and service re-design and undertakes AHP service management reviews and surveys. He has co-edited and written a range of publications including the series of Allied Health Professions Essential Guides.
