Biography

Fiona Jenkins MA (dist.), FCSP, Grad. Dip. Phys, MHSM, NEBS Dip.(M), PGCO is Director of Therapies and Health Sciences Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Fiona is Director of one of the seven Local Health Boards in Wales, a new post taken up in 2010. Her responsibilities extend to the HPC registered staff, both AHPs and Health Scientists, in a large organisation including primary, community, secondary and tertiary care. Prior to this she was Clinical Director of Therapies in South Devon and lead for Map of Medicine and member of the national Map of Medicine co-ordination group. Fiona also previously held the post of PCT service re-design lead.

A former Council member and Vice President of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Fiona has led and been involved with a large number of service improvement projects several of which have been award winning. She has extensive experience of care pathway development and service re-design across the health economy. Fiona holds an MA (Dist.) in management and is currently undertaking research for a PhD in NHS management related to AHP services. She lectures both nationally and internationally, leads Master classes and workshops and gives presentations on management and leadership topics and service re-design and undertakes AHP service management reviews and surveys. She has co-edited and written a range of publications including the series of Allied Health Professions Essential Guides.
