WCPT e-update

March 2010

From the President and Secretary General

The people of Haiti and Chile were on the minds of Executive Committee members when they met in London in early March. The earthquakes have had devastating consequences for the lives and health of people in both countries. Our thoughts are with the people of Chile and Haiti and with the local and international physical therapists who have given time and skill to assist in the immediate aftermath and with the longer term rebuilding. Through its website, WCPT has posted information from international organisations with expertise in such circumstances who are seeking physical therapists to work in disaster zones as well as links to resource material. WCPT is trying to actively expand its online resources about physical therapists and disaster management - to help spread expertise, and to raise awareness of the profession’s potential contribution. Please let us know if you have material and content you feel could be included on the website.

In the meantime we send warm thoughts to physical therapists in both countries.

Kind regards,
Marilyn Moffat and Brenda J Myers
