Biography

Dr. Christine Carpenter is a physical therapist and attained her graduate degrees in Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. Her area of clinical expertise is spinal cord injury rehabilitation and she was a Senior Lecturer at the University of British Columbia for 15 years. She is currently a Reader in Physiotherapy at Coventry University. She has extensive teaching experience in research methodologies and methods, health care ethics and education, and professional issues and disability issues. She supervises graduate students in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America. Her research interests focus on disability issues and dilemmas of professional practice. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, is a book chapter author, and an associate editor for Physiotherapy Canada. She has co-authored three books on qualitative research and evidence-based practice in rehabilitation entitled Qualitative research for occupational and physical therapists: A practical guide (2000), Qualitative research in evidence-based rehabilitation (2004), and Using qualitative research: A practical introduction for occupational and physical therapists (2008).
