Biography

Professor Margaret (Margie) Mc Neely is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. She currently holds a joint appointment in the Department of Oncology and performs clinical research in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at the Cross Cancer Institute. Margie received both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta and she has been a practicing clinician for over 20 years. Margie's research interests are in the area of cancer rehabilitation and exercise. Her research to date has focused on upper limb dysfunction and cancer-related symptoms of pain, fatigue and lymphedema. Her master's research focused on the area of breast cancer related lymphedema. Her doctoral research examined the role of exercise in the rehabilitation of Breast and Head and Neck cancer survivors. Her post-doctoral work involved examining the benefits of exercise in Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivors. She has 15 peer reviewed publications and 5 book chapters in the Oncology Rehabilitation area. She has presented at local, national and international conferences including WCPT in 2007.
