Biography
Soraya Maart is currently the Deputy Head of the Division of Physiotherapy, in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town, South Africa. She obtained her Masters in Public Health in 2004, and is currently registered for her PhD. Her research interests are in Disability Studies access to rehabilitation services for persons with disability. She has been actively engaged in the development of a multidisciplinary core course — Disability in Primary Health Care - within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The course is framed within the ICF philosophy, with the main aim of creating disability awareness among 1st year undergraduate students in Audiology, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Pathology within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Until recently, Soraya was an executive member of the South African Society of Physiotherapy where she served as the Chairperson of the Transformation Portfolio.
