Biography
Gabriela Abbud received her B.Sc. in physiotherapy in 2005 from University of São Paulo, Brazil and her M.Sc. in Exercise Science in 2008 from Concordia University, Canada. Her first contact with physiotherapy practice in the area of HIV and AIDS occurred during her internship in Brazil in the Infirmary of Infectious Contagious Diseases, where she applied physiotherapeutic treatment to patients with neurological and respiratory symptoms and complications of HIV in a hospital setting. She is currently working as a physiotherapist at the Centre de Réadapatation Lucie-Bruneau in Montreal in the area of neuromuscular diseases and at the Montreal Chest Institute in cardio-respiratory physiotherapy. Her research background encompasses the areas of neurophysiology, attention and motor control. She has presented her works at different conferences, including the 15th International Congress of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy in 2007 and the 2nd International Congress on Gait and Mental Function in 2008. In addition, her research has been published by the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research (2006) and the Journal of Gait and Posture (2009).
