Biography
Dr. O'Neil is an associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She holds a secondary appointment in the School of Public Health. She has been a pediatric physical therapist for 25 years. She has spent the last 10 years primarily in a teaching and research capacity with consultation to communities to design imeasurment protocols and intervention programs to enhance fitness and physical activity in children with chronic conditions (obesity) and those with disability (CP, autism). She is a past PI on an NIH grant examining physical activity and nutrition outcomes after a health education intervention for families and their children who are overweight/obese. She is a current grant recipient on an APTA grant to examine fitness and physical activity in children with CP. Dr. O'Neil has published in a variety of areas including physical therapy service delivery and family centered care; and measurement and intervention outcomes for children with CP and other disabilities. She has presented at numerous state, national and international conferences in physical therapy, public health, pediatrics, and family medicine.
