News in brief
World PT Day
Remember to get World Physical Therapy Day, 8th September, in your diary. This year WCPT is introducing some changes – there’ll be new subjects, new logos and new materials available. “We’ll be keeping the theme of ‘Movement for Health’ and are still encouraging member organisations to organise events around subjects that are important to them nationally,” says Brenda Myers, WCPT Secretary General. “But we want to provide new materials, information to give direct to the public, and a handy new guide on how to organise activities.”
Look out for a full announcement of what WCPT has available in early June. To see what physical therapists have already accomplished on World Physical Therapy Day go to www.wcpt.org/wptday#activities
New presentation for member organisations
WCPT is researching how member organisations use the Confederation’s policies and guidelines to bring about change with policy makers, and in education and practice. It will be launching an online survey later in the year, and has now produced a PowerPoint presentation to introduce the survey to WCPT regions and member organisations. The presentation will be shown at regional meetings, and is available to view on YouTube at www.wcpt.org/node/48669. It will shortly be available in Spanish and French.
The WCPT Executive Committee has agreed a plan for WCPT’s corporate relations, setting out the principles guiding the Confederation’s relations with organisations, companies and individuals. It states that any corporate relationship established with a third party must maintain the credibility and reputation of both WCPT and the physical therapy profession, and be compatible with the mission, guiding principles, goals and values of WCPT.
