Action
on Disability and Development
ADD is a UK based international development
agency, which works with disabled people's organisations in 12 of the poorest
countries of Africa and Asia . ADD's vision is of a world where disabled people
are able to participate as fully as they choose at every level of society.
ADD's aim is to support organisations
of disabled people in their campaign for the rightful inclusion of disabled
adults and children in society. They work with organisations controlled and
run by disabled people themselves, as they strive to help their members, and
other disabled people to :
- Take control of their own lives and set up self-help initiatives
- Access basic human needs such as food, health care, education, and livelihoods
- Campaign and advocate for equal opportunities at all levels of society
- Establish sustainable self-help organisations
ADD believes that sustainable social
change can be achieved by disabled people's organisations as part of the wider
disabled people's movement in developing countries. They are working in India
, Bangladesh , Cambodia , Ghana , Mali , Burkina Faso , Cote d'Ivoire , Uganda
, Tanzania , Zambia , Zimbabwe and Sudan.
