What should the global physical therapist workforce look like?
Description
This seminar will look at potential solutions to contemporary workforce issues in relation to physical therapists and physical therapist support personnel working together. Inequitable access to physical therapy can be a consequence of low numbers of qualified personnel, education, regulation, government policy, health service administration and other issues. To what extent can physical therapists and physical therapist support personnel improve the situation and how?
Format
This seminar will be a mixture of stimulus presentations and table discussions with plenary feedback.
Learning objectives
- To expose delegates to the range of experiences of physical therapists and physical therapist support personnel working together
- To explore models of practice to enhance the availability of physical therapy to un- or under-served populations towards the achievement of universal health coverage
- To consider the education, competencies, monitoring and evaluation of physical therapists and physical therapist support personnel and how to enhance collaborative practice
