Jean Damascene GASHEREBUKA is an experienced Specialist in Physiotherapy currently working at King Faisal Hospital, Kigali/ Rwanda. He trained at the University of Witwatersrand and is holder of a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy with interests in Orthopedics and Manual Therapy since December 2006. Currently he is the Chairperson of the Rwanda Allied Health Professions Council, a national regulatory body which regulates allied health professionals; and chair of the Rwanda Health Skills Council, a platform promoting capacity building of health professionals.  

Co-author in a Study done together with Health Volunteer Overseas (HVO) mentors: “A conceptual Model for Continuing Professional Development to build capacity in Low Resource countries: Rwanda which was published in the Disability and Rehabilitation Journal in 2017.

 Member of WCPT Africa Executive committee since 2008-2012 as Secretary, was elected as Chairperson of WCPTA from 2012-2014. He has actively contributed to the promotion of physiotherapy in francophone countries and their adhesion to WCPT/ WCPTA.

He is currently working as a mentor for Niger Physiotherapy Association under SUDA/WCPT Project, to strengthen therapeutic rehabilitation services in conflict-affected developing countries of West Africa.
