I am head of Research and Development at the CSP.  I am leading on a number of projects, which will demonstrate to WCPT delegates the cutting edge of physiotherapy practice and service delivery in the UK; showcasing the CSP corporate vision to transform the health and wellbeing of both individuals and communities.

The CSP is championing the development and use of the best available evidence that physiotherapy is both clinically and cost effective. The CSP is identifying the priorities for physiotherapy research through a national partnership with a world leader in this field, the James Lind Alliance.

Frailty and hip fracture representing significant challenges for all health care systems. In partnership with the Royal College of Physicians, the CSP has launched a national audit of hip fracture rehabilitation, to understand hip fracture rehabilitation and make recommendations for improvements.

The financial constraints that the UK NHS faces are familiar throughout the world. The CSP has seized the opportunity to offer solutions, particularly in primary care. I have led the production of shared national implementation guidance with the Royal College of GPs and the British Medical Association, enabling physiotherapists to work as a first point of contact in General Practice.
