Filip Struyf received a MSc in Physiotherapy (2003), a MSc in Sportsphysiotherapy (2004) and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy (2010) from the Free University of Brussels. Before being involved in research he has worked for 10 years as a physical therapist in a private practice, specialized in musculoskeletal disorders. He is currently assistant professor at the department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy of University of Antwerp. He is the head of the educational department rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy of the University of Antwerp, the Editor-in-chief of the Dutch & Flemish journal of Sports Medicine, board member of the Flemish Association of Sports Medicine, board member of the Shoulder network Zeeland (Netherlands), and visiting lecturer of the Eduction in Sports Physical Therapy at the Foundation Education of Manual Therapy of the Netherlands. He has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, mainly on shoulder assessment, shoulder rehabilitation or pain related topics. He has given over 38 presentations at national and international conferences on shoulder disorders, of which 32 times as an invited speaker.
