Monika Fagevik Olsén is a physical therapist at the Department of Physical Therapy, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden, where she has worked almost 30 years as a clinician (surgery and obstetrics/gynaecology) and researcher. She is also professor in physical therapy at the Institute for Neuroscience and Physiology Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. She has a PhD in Medicine (1998) and is specialist in Respiratory Medicine (1996) and Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2006). She has supervised 7 PhD students to graduation and currently has 5 doctoral students. She has received approximately 2 million Swedish krona in funding for own projects and 13 million Swedish krona as a co-worker. Professor Fagevik Olsén has presented her research at several WCPT meetings and at conferences in Scandinavia and Europe. She has published 68 original articles, 8 reviews and 9 other articles in international peer-reviewed journals such as International Journal of Surgery, European Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery, Respiratory Care, Physiotherapy Research International and BMJ Open.
