
April Gamble DPT, PT earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Michigan, USA. She is a physiotherapist trainer at Center for Victims of Torture in Kurdistan, Iraq and previously in Jordan which annually provides direct services to over 1,200 survivors of torture and war trauma within an interdisciplinary model. Previously she held the Lulenski-Smith Neurologic Residency and then served as a pediatric physiotherapist and clinical coordinator in a multidisciplinary clinic in Beijing, China. Gamble’s publication credits in peer reviewed international journals include both a randomized controlled trial and a case series investigating novel interventions for neurological conditions. Gamble is a passionate advocate for the profession and underserved populations. She is the current secretary for the Global Health Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association. She delivered a variety of presentations at national and international meetings including the WCPT Congress 2015, the Congress of Chinese Rehabilitation Education, and the American Physical Therapy Associations Combine Sections Meeting 2017. Gamble’s current research interests involve advancing services globally for survivors of torture and war trauma.
