Bio
Alice is a UK based physiotherapist who has been working and consulting for a number of years with the international organisations to respond to emergencies in Haiti, Syria and most recently, Nepal with the UK Emergency Medical Team. She worked alongside the ministry of health and WHO to co-ordinate national and international rehabilitation actors during the earthquake response.
Her particular interest is now in co-ordination of the rehabilitation sector during emergencies, and she is undertaking research to develop recommendations on how best to co-ordinate activities at a time when harmony is often most challenging.
She has recently contributed to the forthcoming WCPT briefing paper on the role of physiotherapists in disaster management. Alice also supported the development of training materials for physiotherapists joining the UK trauma register, she has spoken at the ADAPT conference 2015 on the role of physiotherapy in disaster risk reduction, and has guest lectured at Liverpool University and St Georges University of London on the importance of physiotherapy in emergencies.
As current vice chair of ADAPT, (UK chartered physiotherapists in international health and development) her current priority is to link with other such groups, creating a more connected international community of physiotherapists involved in disaster management.
