My name is Solomon Fasika Demissie, I was born at Nefas Mewucha, South Gondar Zone, Ethiopia, on March 25th, 1988. I have studied physiotherapy in bachelor and masters degree level at University of Gondar, Ethiopia. Following my bachelor degree graduation in 2008, I have been involved mainly in teaching physiotherapy courses for bachelor students and managing the academic department of physiotherapy at University of Gondar. The physiotherapy department was established in 2002 by support of physiotherapists from the Netherlands, UK and Canada. The department is a pioneer physiotherapy education center of Ethiopia. As head of the department, I have been working closely with physiotherapists from different countries, translating international evidence into clinical physiotherapy practice in Ethiopia, where physiotherapy is a relatively new profession, with fewer resources.
Starting from September 2015, in addition to my teaching work at the physiotherapy department, I am working as a coordinator of a project at community based rehabilitation program of University of Gondar. Generally the CBR project is focused on improving the quality of life of children with disability and other vulnerable children. My current job created an opportunity for me to understand how disability is major public health problem. I am interested in orthopedic and musculoskelal related rearch works. I am part of undergoing research work at University of Gondar.
