Bio
Nicola Walsh is a Professor of Knowledge Mobilisation and Musculoskeletal Health at the University of the West of England, UK. She has an MSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Brighton and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from King’s College London. Nicola worked as a clinician in a variety of London hospitals specialising in musculoskeletal management before moving into academia. She has taught on under-graduate and post-graduate programmes, specialising in exercise therapy, biomechanics, rheumatology and evidence based practice. Her mixed methods research focusses on the management of osteoarthritis (OA) using innovative models of delivery, including generic management of multiple joint OA; internet resources and alternative healthcare/self-management providers. She also supervises a number of PhD students in these areas, both nationally and internationally. Nicola has published widely and has received over £1.75m (GB) research funding. Her international roles include the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy and she is a member of the Osteoarthritis and Research Society International (OARSI) Research and Training Committee .
