Dina Brooks received her Bachelor of Science (Physical Therapy), Master of Science (Rehabilitation Science), and PhD (Medical Science) from the University of Toronto. Currently, Dr. Brooks is Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto and holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2). She is recognized internationally as a leader in cardiovascular and respiratory rehabilitation, having published over 200 peer peer-reviewed papers. She is editor of Physiotherapy Canada, Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and chair of the WCPT International Scientific Committee. In 2015 she was awarded a WCPT International Service Award in the area of research and in 2010 received the Enid Graham Award (most prestigious award given to a Canadian physiotherapist by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association). Her research includes a strong focus on exercise training in individuals with respiratory and/or cardiovascular disease. Dr. Brooks has spearheaded several studies in the area of exercise training and fitness of individuals post-stroke, including the recent trial, Effects of Cardiac Rehabilitation for Individuals with Transient Ischemic Attack (NCT00929994).
