Bakker, Els

Els Bakker Physical Therapist, is a professor at the HE L de Vinci in Brussels; department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Prof Bakker completed her master education in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 1978, her Interuniversitary Certificate Pelvic Reeducation in 1995 and her doctoral degree in 2003 at the University of Antwerp Belgium. Prof Bakker has extensive clinical experiences in Belgium in the treatment of functional urinary and bowel problems in children. She has given more than 200 presentations in this field and has multiple publications in the area of Pelvic Floor Therapy. She is currently working 2 days a week at Paola Pediatric Hospital in Antwerp and is in charge of the Research Department and the Lifelong learning programs at her institution. She is a full member of the Belgian Scientific Council, scientific secretary for the Belgian association of pelvic reeducation Pelvired, a board member of the SIFUD-PP and was a member until 2015 of the Physiotherapy Committee of the ICS.
