New toolkit to keep NCDs on the agenda

The NCD Alliance has published an advocacy toolkit to help health professionals and their organisations ensure that the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remains on the national and international agenda.

The toolkit, which includes advocacy briefings, checklists, summaries of political documents and a list of key resources, is being issued as the current United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are about to expire at the end of the year.
The NCD Alliance, of which WCPT is a member, has campaigned for the inclusion of NCDs in the successors to the MDGs since its formation in 2009. A United Nations high-level meeting in 2011 affirmed that NCDs are one of the major challenges for development in the 21st century.
The NCD Alliance now wants the NCD community to build on the momentum of the UN meeting and ensure that NCD prevention and control is central to the sustainable development agenda for the next 15 years.
