The Icelandic Physiotherapy Association (IPA) celebrated its 75th anniversary in March, holding a special day at the Harpa Conference Hall in Reykjavik.
Among the speakers was WCPT Vice President Emma Stokes, who spoke about leadership in physical therapy. Susan Whitney, Professor in Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, gave a lecture on new advances in mild head injury across the lifespan. Several Icelandic physical therapists introduced their research outcomes.
The IPA announced that it was making Sigrún Knútsdóttir an honorary life member for her contribution to the profession, both within Iceland and in WCPT’s European Region, where she served as Second Vice Chairman from 1998 to 2002 and First Vice Chairman from 2002 to 2008.
The day ended with a party, including a performance by an all-physical therapist band, accompanied by the associations´ President, Unnur Pétursdóttir, at the grand piano.
