WCPT's special interest networks grow: new groups on amputee rehabilitation and education

WCPT has welcomed two new networks to join a growing number of physical therapy groupings who are sharing professional ideas, experience and expertise with the assistance of the Confederation. They are the WCPT Network for Amputee Rehabilitation, and the WCPT Network for Physical Therapist Educators.

WCPT networks are designed to facilitate communication between groups of physical therapists with common professional interests around the world. WCPT provides a meeting ground for such groups via its website.

The new WCPT Network for Amputee Rehabilitation (AR) aims to encourage, promote and facilitate the interchange of ideas, research, knowledge and skills in amputee rehabilitation for education and practice. It also aims to:

  • develop post registration education in amputee rehabilitation
  • provide support and information between members.

The network will be encouraging communication via its LinkedIn group. The network’s page on the WCPT website provides a list of resources.

“Membership of the WCPT AR Network is free, and open to physical therapists working or interested in working in amputee rehabilitation and who belong to a WCPT member organisation,” said the network’s primary contact Louise Tisdale from the UK. You can apply for membership by sending an email with your name, country, WCPT member organisation, professional background and field of expertise to louise.tisdale@nhs.net. “Through your membership you will be linked with colleagues who share the same background and interests, in your own country and worldwide,” she said.

WCPT’s other new network is the WCPT Network for Physical Therapist Educators. This is a forum for educators interested in all aspects of education from pre-qualifying to post-qualifying. The network aims to:

  • facilitate information sharing
  • raise standards
  • promote excellence
  • recruit educators to the WCPT experts database
  • promote congress attendance and engagement with students.

This network also has a LinkedIn group and a page on the WCPT website. You can apply for membership by sending an email with your name, country, WCPT member organisation, professional background and field of expertise to Esther Bright at ebright@wcpt.org.
