The Philippine Physical Therapy Association (PPTA) has made the 8th September, World Physical Therapy, the country’s own National Physical Therapy Day.

This year the PPTA and the Association of Philippine Physical Therapy Students (APPTS) spearheaded the celebrations through the use of social media. Physical Therapists and PT students were encouraged to change their profile pictures or attach a twibbon on their Facebook or twitter accounts. Another photo was generated that could be placed as a cover photo, bearing the theme of the upcoming PPTA Golden Anniversary celebration in 2014: “Proud Filipino Physical Therapist”.

Several academic institutions also marked the day by holding lectures/lay-fora and conferences.  These included a students’ conference with the theme: “PT students moving for health” and a workshop titled “Applying manual therapy techniques in stroke rehabilitation”.
