Physical therapy students at Dow University of Health and Sciences celebrated World Physical Therapy Day 2015 by conducting events promoting awareness of physical health and wellbeing in Pakistan. 

Several colleges in Pakistan were visited, where students were told of the need to be “fit for the future”. Presentations were given and stalls were set up offering BMI analysis, postural analysis and pulmonary function tests, creating awareness of health in the young students. Several rehabilitation centres were also visited where parents of children with special needs were shown the importance of physical therapy.

 

IIRS, ISRA University

A historic event occured in the history of Isra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Isra University Islamabad campus. World Physical Therapy Day 2015 was celebrated in collaboration with Such TV programme, Ham Jawan Nojawan, and NTCSP (National Training Centre for Special Persons).

Special persons and physically handicapped children participated from NTCSP.The ceremony started with Tilawat .Two faculty members Dr Misha and Dr Maria Sajid made a presentation on the history and significance of the physical therapy profession, this was followed by a motivational speech by Principal IIRS Dr Muhammad Naveed Babur, who spoke highly about physiotherapy profession. The guest of honour, Dr Ghulam Haider Zardari Director  NTCSP and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Altaf G Sheikh of ISRA University Islamabad were invited on stage for the cake cutting ceremony. About 400 physical therapy students and children with disabilities from NTCSP participated in this event.
