On 8th September the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) supported the development of the Sudanese Association of Physiotherapist (SuPTA) by organising a one day workshop on pre-prosthetic physical rehabilitation for the persons with lower limb amputation.SuPTA linked the various stake holders such as the National Authority of Prosthetics and Orthotics (NAPO) and the Alneelain University, to emphasise the importance of an interdisciplinary team approach in physical rehabilitation.  About 64 participants attended the workshop including doctors, nurses, prosthetists, orthotists, physiotherapists, social workers and management staff.

SuPTA, with the support of the ICRC, also initiated a campaign to celebrate World Physical Therapy Day in Sudan by using the WCPT toolkit on the day of the workshop. SuPTA was able to celebrate the event at many locations in Sudan, in particular universities offering physiotherapy training. The SuPTA team, along with the ICRC physical rehabilitation team, also distributed food and toys to children with disabilities in Khartoum Cheshire Home and provided free physiotherapy sessions.
