The Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA) celebrated World Physical Therapy Day 2017 with a series of events on 8th September.

The day started with a speech and in introduction to World Physiotherapy Day and physiotherapy in Nepal by Mr. Nishchal  Ratna Shakya, President of NEPTA. The Chief Guest for the Program was Dr. Mahesh Maskey, Former Ambassador to People’s Republic of China and the health policy expert in the Ministry. Dignitaries from Health and Disability sectors were present. Rector- Dr. Ranga Bahadhur Basnet from National Academy of Health Science (NAMS) and Mr. Bhoj Raj Shrestha, Advisor of Prime Minister of Nepal- Disability Sector spoke about role and importance of physiotherapy in the disability sector.

Other activities included:

  • a walkathon
  • a physiotherapy day event
  • an orientation and free health camp were organised by physiotherapists working in different sectors, and students from Kathmandu University School of Medical Science in a different region of Nepal.
