A workshop on the threat of counterfeit medicines will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, this June – the latest in a series of events run by the World Health Professions Alliance, of which WCPT is a member.
Plans for the new workshop were finalised at a meeting of the WHPA held in Geneva last month [March]. The goal is to bring together representatives of health professions’ organisations and national authorities to:
- share information on counterfeit medicines;
- debate how to reduce counterfeit medicines in the region;
- consider collaborative action between the healthcare professions in each country to combat counterfeit medicines continuously for the next 12 months;
- reach a collective commitment to give priority to the issue.
The workshop will be held on 30th June to 1st July, hosted by the Taiwan Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In a message to the WCPT member organisations in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan, WCPT Secretary General Brenda Myers said: “We believe that the participation of physical therapy organisations would be very beneficial to all parties, tightening the bonds of cooperation between health professionals and health.”
