World Physical Therapy Day 2011 – Bangladesh

This year the Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA) took the initiative to celebrate the day with many activities through different organisations such as NGOs working with disabilities, hospitals, therapy centres and medical institutes.  BPA President, Mr. Rajib Hasan, and Secretary General, Mr. Md. Bakhtiar, along with several executive members attended different programmes as BPA delegates.  In almost all the seven divisions in Bangladesh, the day was celebrated through BPA initiatives successfully. This included

  • a Movement for Health rally at Shaheed Minar Prangon
  • seminar at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP)
  • workshop at the Prince Medical Institute and Hospital (PMIH) with RESS Physiotherapy Center
  • Institute of British Colombia and Bangladesh Medical Institute jointly organised a whole-day programme with a free mobile camp followed by a workshop in Uttara
  • a half-day seminar at Chapainawabganj
  • free mobile camps in Khulna and Barisal divisions
  • leaflet distribution
  • production of 500 World Physical Therapy Day posters
