World Physical Therapy Day 2012 - Saudi Arabia

For the second time, the Saudi Physical Therapy Association celebrated World Physical Therapy Day this year. The association celebrated the day under the Movement for health theme in several locations, with the main event in the college of Applied Medical Sciences, King Saud University in Riyadh. An exhibition in the college lobby, in both male and female campuses, included a number of booths raising the awareness among university staff and students on the importance of physical activity and the role of physical therapists in that regard. Brochures on several health topics related to the World PT Day, were distributed. In the female campus, physical therapy female students celebrated the day by running a number of activities within the college lobby including exercise class which were free for everyone to join, in addition to other fun and educational activities.

Other institutions also joined in these celebrations, one of these was the Physical Therapy Department at Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh. Various activities were held including, lectures, free consultations, awareness corners, entertaining games and plays, and also competitions and prizes.

The media, through newspapers, as well as Twitter and Facebook, gave full coverage of these events.
