Pokhrel, Sunil


Mr. Sunil Pokhrel  is Health and Rehabilitation Technical Advisor of Handicap International , co-coordinator for health working group of 146 International INGOs in Nepal and general secretary of Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA). He has more than five years of experience at micro, meso and macro levels that include a grassroots organisations and government facilities under the ministry of health in areas of capacity building of health professionals ,developing the rehabilitation program and providing inputs on national level strategic guidelines and trainings on disability management. He was involved in setting up and supervising the emergency rehabilitation unit at government hospitals of Nepal following the devastating earthquake in April and May 2015. His platform presentation was accepted in WCPT conference 2015 (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S003194061502180X ) but he decided to continue his rehabilitation support to people affected by the earthquake . Sunil is also a contributor of an editorial “The Role of Physical Therapists in the Medical Response Team Following a Natural Disaster: Our Experience in Nepal “ (http://www.jospt.org/doi/abs/10.2519/jospt.2015.0108#.VeaUH_mqqkq) published under the authorship of NEPTA. At present , he works in synergy with Leprosy Control Division(focal unit of ministry of health for the disability management in Nepal) to develop the rehabilitation services.
