The International Association of Physical Therapists (IAAPT) is an international network of physical therapy associations and individuals interested in the practice of acupuncture and related therapies. These include dry needling, cupping, moxibustion and other complementary practices.
IAAPT was founded in 1991 and became a subgroup of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy in 1999.
It was formed by a core group of physiotherapists from five countries, where physiotherapists had been practicing acupuncture since the early 1980's - Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Since becoming a subgroup in 1999, membership has grown to include further member organisations in Hong Kong, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Macau, Denmark, Canada, and Argentina and there are individual members in other countries.
