EMG as a clinical tool: shoulder example (IW-03)

Industry workshop
Time:
Sunday 12th May, 13:00-13:25
Location:
Exhibition hall 1
Analysis of recruitment of EMG onset and muscle imbalance of the scapulothoracic muscles by using the scapular plane elevation test

Patients posture, and scapular alignment will be analyzed.

During the scapular plane elevation test, a surface electromyography of the Serratus anterior, Upper trapezius and Lower trapezius will be used to measure the onset of muscle activation and the duration of the muscle activity.

Scapular movements will be assessed during the test and related to EMG findings.

How patients’ posture and GHJ range of motion may affect EMG findings will be discussed as well as elevation tests in other planes.

The use of SEMG to find the “best exercises” and as a biofeedback for muscle imbalance problems will be discussed.

Speaker:

  • Dr. Harpa Helgadottir
