Roger Hilfiker is a physiotherapist since 1994 and worked for ten years in hospitals, private practice and in rehabilitation clinics before he joined the HES-SO Valais-Wallis (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland Valais) for teaching and research. During his work as a physiotherapist he was trained in exercise physiology and coaching, as well as a manual therapists (OMT IFOMT). He worked mainly with patients with musculoskeletal problems and with athletes (performance diagnostics and rehabilitation plans). In his current scholar position, his main focus is on clinical epidemiology in physiotherapy-related topics, such as spinal pain problems, shoulder problems and exercise for people with health issues. He has also a strong interest in methodological topics such as measurement properties, statistical analysis and meta-analysis. He is doing a PhD (Bern University, Graduate School for Health Sciences) on lower-extremity pain with focus on knee & hip pain and osteoarthritis, as well as on hip impingement.
