Luciola Menezes Costa is an associate professor in physical therapy at the University Cidade de São Paulo – UNICID, Brazil. Lucíola is a former associate editor of the Journal of Orthopeadic & Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT), which is one of the most important journals related to physical therapy research. Her primary areas of research and teaching are related to the management of low back pain in primary care and community settings, particularly in the prognosis of chronic low pain. She also conducts studies of measurement properties of different health-related outcome measures and her research group has adapted many outcome measures into Brazilian-Portuguese. Prior to joining the faculty at UNICID, Dr. Costa received her PhD at The George Institute of Global Health and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney, being part of her PhD candidature focused in clinimetrics research. She published several peer-reviewed articles, being 13 of them focused in cross-cultural adaptation and clinimetrics research. Besides her publications she has been invited to write two chapters in Brazilian books related to measurement properties. Lucíola has been involved in several courses aiming to promote evidence-based physiotherapy in Brazil.
