Gail Nash is a Senior Educator for NHS Scotland’s Education and Training Body (NHS Education for Scotland) in the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (AHP) Directorate. Prior to this she was an Education Lead in one of Scotland’s largest Health Boards for 10 years. She has a BSc Physiotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional and Higher Education, conferring Fellowship of the UK’s Higher Education Academy. Her national role involves ensuring the appropriate educational infrastructure is in place for NHSScotland’s Allied Health professions 12,000 strong workforce. Gail has worked with a number of national organisations, including Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) and Scottish Government (SG), to design, deliver and evaluate a range of educational tools, and resources. She designed and delivered ten Cohorts of the NHS Lothian ‘Delivering Leadership Excellence Programme for AHPs’ which is now the blueprint for AHP leadership in Scotland. Most recently she was awarded funding from SG to lead on the development of the online ‘Ready to Lead’ resource which is now accessible on the national Health Improvement Scotland website. This resource is transferable to Physiotherapists in a range of settings to identify and learn the skills and behaviours required to support successful quality improvement leadership.
