Dr. Stephenson is a medical writer and clinical specialist physical therapist at Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton, Massachusetts. She is past President of the International Organization of Physical Therapists in Women’s Health, IOPTWH, a sub-group WCPT. She graduated from Boston University, and received her masters and doctorate from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (IHP). She specializes in pelvic floor disorders and trauma, incontinence, obstetrics pre and post-partum, lymphedema and orthopedics.
Her awards include the Betty Ann Harris Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award 2018 from IHP, June 2013, the Lucy Blair award for service from the APTA in 2013, and past recipient of the Elizabeth Nobel Award for service from the Section on Women’s Health of the APTA
Dr. Stephenson is the primary author on Obstetrics and Gynecologic Care in Physical Therapy and additionally has written many chapters, study modules and videos on issues related to women’s health and orthopedics. She is adjunct clinical assistant professor for the MGH IHP.. Rebecca serves on the Rehabilitation Advisory Board of the World-Wide Fistula Fund and is a founding member of the Global Women’s Health Initiative, a non-profit. She teaches nationally and internationally on topics of women’s health.
