Niri Naidoo was awarded the BSc (Physiotherapy) degree from the University of Durban-Westville, South Africa in 1984. She received her Masters in Medical Science and Masters in Education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and PhD at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She has taught at her alma mater and has worked at the Boston University Medical Center, Massachusetts, USA. She is presently the head of the Division of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She has received research grants from the National Research Foundation. Her research has included risk factors (such as physical activity, gross motor skills and physical fitness) for childhood obesity in both typically developing children and children with intellectual disability. Niri is part of the growing Network for Intellectual and Developmental Disability in WCPT.
