Guus Meerhoff studied Physical therapy (BSc.) and Human Movement Sciences (MSc.) in the Netherlands. He worked in clinical practice for 7 years, is finishing his PhD, and currently holds a position as program manager at the Royal Dutch Society for Physical Therapy (KNGF). At the KNGF he is responsible for two programs: 1) the development and implementation of the KNGF-clinical practice guidelines and 2) the development and exploitation of their national outcomes registry. This outcomes registry contains over 2.500.000 treatment episodes collected by 10.000 physical therapists in their electronic health record system and uploaded to the outcomes registry of the KNGF. The data in this registry is fed back to physical therapists to initiate different quality improvement initiatives (e.g. development of quality indicators).
