John graduated as a physiotherapist in Australia in 1990, and has worked clinically in pain and musculoskeletal practice before moving into a career in Higher Education. He has a MSc Physiotherapy and a Doctorate in Education. John is currently Head of Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Kingston University and St Georges University of London. He has held various roles such as Associate Dean (Widening Participation), Associate Dean (Education) and has chaired the St George’s Equality and Diversity Committee. He is on the executive committee of the National Association of Educators in Practice and Associate Editor of Physiotherapy journal. John’s research centres on pedagogic practices and issues of social justice; such as gender, sexual orientation, attainment differences, widening participation and reflective practice. Similarly John's teaching interests centre on issues of social justice, specifically diversity, gender, reflective practice and interprofessional working.
