Professor Joy Higgs has worked for over 30 years in higher education and has published extensively with 36 books and over 350 papers and chapters in the fields of professional practice, research and education. She has worked in several universities in Australia and has held adjunct and honorary positions in numerous universities in Australia and overseas. She has extensive experience in practice-based education, workplace learning and employability. She is currently employed as Professor in Higher Education at Charles Sturt University. Her research interests have long focused on understanding professional practice and the changing shape of professions in work and society and practice-based education (pedagogy and curriculum frameworks). Dr. Higgs is a member of the Australian Learning and Teaching Fellows Network. In 2015 Joy was appointed a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. She is currently employed as Professor in Higher Education at Charles Sturt University.
