Dr. Nordstrom is Vice-President of Enrollment and Student Services, Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy where he teaches in the areas of professionalism and ethics at Samuel Merritt University. Dr. Nordstrom has extensive on both the clinical and educational leadership side having worked in pediatrics, home health, and outpatient orthopedics. He has served as a Director of Rehabilitation Services, a partner in a private PT clinic, Director of a PT clinic, an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education and Chair of a Department of Physical Therapy. He was instrumental in the development of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) where he served as one of its first leaders. ACAPT has been instrumental in advocating for a much needed focus on education research in physical therapy. Dr. Nordstrom holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of San Francisco, master’s degree in physical therapy from Stanford University, and a bachelor of arts degree in psychobiology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Dr. Nordstrom is a member of the research team that did the first national study of excellence in physical therapy education, since the well-known Worthingham studies done some 50 years ago.
