Dr. L Maria Walton, PhD, DPT, MS, MPH(s) is an associate professor and researcher from University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. She hold a doctorate in physical therapy from Creighton University and is currently completing a degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA. Dr. Walton's research is focused on international rehabilitation programs related to trauma, toxic stress and vulnerable populations, specifically in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. She has published over thirty peer reviewed journal articles and has presented internationally on related topics. She is a member of Phi Beta Delta, honor society for international scholars, since 2010 and has developed research collaborations in several international locations. She is a strong advocate, scholar, and volunteer for rehabilitation programs with vulnerable populations of women and children across the world. Dr. Walton's current research agenda involves work with vulnerable populations and resultant neurobiological adaptations under toxic stress conditions.
